Talking Budgie Menu
Herbert the Budgie
Herbert is one of the budgies that Sarah is the guardian for. Sarah has a wonderful flock of budgies and she lives in Israel. She is also a member of the psittaliguistics committee. Herbert was only a few months old when he start to talk. His ability to talk in context so quickly solidified my theory that budgies are master communicators capable of learning our language about ten times faster then we can.

About Herbert from Sarah

Herbert was born in June, 2003.  He is just starting to get his adult feathers.  He was purpose-bred to be a talker.  How?  His father is an English show budgie and bred some show birds for me until his hen suddenly died.  I noticed all the season that this cock budgie made all sorts of sounds all the time and seemed to have a "comment" on everything.  I paired him with an American budgie type hen for vigor and to see if he would produce a chick that liked to "talk" as well.  The two chicks they produced at the end of the season were hand-raised and kept alongside Binky.  Both learned to talk right away.  One chick was rebellious; but the other was snuggly.    I kept the the cuddly one and named him Herbert.  He is light gray normal color like a show budgie.  He is a bird with his own ambitions, as well
