Spikey the Budgie -Rated 5.5 out of 7 for understanding and context
Spikey is a male budgie a little over a year old.  His first word was bird, but his first sentence was "I love you".  He only started to speak in November 2002; a little over six months of age. Spikey is a single budgie.  We don't have any other birds. My husband was extremely skeptical that I would ever train Spikey to talk but now he is awed and brags to his family and friends.  Spikey is very close to the family members and loves most children but is shy around strange adults.

This bird knows that he is adored and is very, very spoiled.  He spends a lot of time outside of his cage usually riding around on mine or my ten year old son's shoulder.  He is very comical and loves to make us laugh.  When my wiener dogs are barking, he will bark along.  He can be naughty.  He loves to pinch the skin on your neck and hear us go yowwwww... and then he'll say yowwwww. In summary, he is a familly member.

Here are some of his recordings below:

Spikey's Intro
Spikey talks extensively about himself. The only problem is when he was younger his mommy wasn't sure if he was a boy or girl and he is a little confused. Don't worry Spikey you got it right the next time.

Now that Would Hurt
In this recording Spikey proves that he is speaking in context by answering his mommy a couple of times during the conversation.

A Bird With Spirit
Spikey talks about being strong and having spirt and all the good things that budgies have so often proved to have.

Spikey is Back
Spikey talks about the differences and similarities between people and budgies.

Nail Polish
Spikey interacts with his guardian "The Real Moxie" as she puts on her nail polish.
